Commitment to sport recognised

The City has been commended for supporting the growth of tennis in Kwinana, receiving the Local Government Award at the 2017 WA Tennis Industry Awards Night. The Award is recognises Local Government Authorities who are engaged with, and supportive of tennis in their community.

The City has worked closely with Tennis WA and the Kwinana Tennis Club on a range of improvements including membership development, infrastructure development and presence within the local community.

City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said the City was proud to encourage participation in sport through the support of local sporting groups and clubs.

“This year the City invested in a much-needed upgrade to the Kwinana Tennis Courts. The courts have been completely transformed, with a new modern surface, new net posts, fencing and accessible paths and stairs”, said Mayor Adams.

“I would like to thank Tennis WA for recognising the City’s efforts in this area, and look forward to seeing participation in the sport continue to grow.”

The award was accepted on behalf of the City of Kwinana by Councillor Sandra Lee at the WA Tennis Industry Awards Night on 6 October 2017.
