A rock concert with a difference

24 October 2017

The biggest and loudest event Kwinana has ever seen is coming this December. The Act-Belong-Commit Rock Symphony features everyone’s favourite rock and pop legends like never experienced before – performed by the fully-fledged, 55-piece Perth Symphony Orchestra.

The orchestra will break all the rules as they perform hits from Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Pharrell Williams and Adele plus film classics from Pirates of the Caribbean, James Bond, Lion King and more. Act-Belong-Commit Rock Symphony is the ultimate music experience for all ages. No fuss – just raw, energetic music in a warm and friendly surrounding under the stars.

City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said the City was thrilled to bring this world-class concert to Kwinana.

“Without doubt this is the biggest and boldest event we have ever put on in Kwinana,” Mayor Adams said.

“With Kwinana’s population continuing to grow rapidly, both in size and diversity, we’ve looked to reinvigorate our events calendar by introducing some truly unique and impressive spectacles.”

“The Act-Belong-Commit Rock Symphony will be an unforgettable night out with friends and family, the perfect way to kick off the summer events season.”

Food trucks will be available or bring along a picnic with a rug and chairs.

Perth Symphony Orchestra will be popping up all over Kwinana over the next few months, with a series of surprise mini-concerts in local neighbourhood centres. The Orchestra will also be bringing an interactive musical program to schools in Kwinana, aiming to awaken a curiosity about music in children of all ages.

“We are extremely excited to perform for the Kwinana Community - taking music out of the City Centre and to people in their backyards is a key mission of Perth Symphony. We believe the power of music can connect people in ways they can never imagine. By performing a diverse program with rock, pop and film music, this concert is perfect for friends and family of all ages,”  said Bourby Webster, Founder and Executive Director, Perth Symphony Orchestra.

The Act-Belong-Commit Rock Symphony is a free event made possible thanks to generous sponsors Healthway promoting the Act-Belong-Commit message, CSBP, Fremantle Ports, Alcoa and Tianqi Lithium.

Through Healthway, the City of Kwinana is promoting  the Act-Belong-Commit message of being active, having a sense of belonging, and having a purpose in life all contributing to happiness and good mental health and wellbeing.

“Joining in community events such as the Act-Belong-Commit Rock Symphony keeps people active, and increases their sense of belonging to their community,”  said Act-Belong-Commit’s Sarah Graham, “both of which increases happiness and good mental health”.
