Kwinana is a ‘hyper-growth’ council and every 12 hours a new family moves into the area. In the next decade there will be over 7000 new homes constructed and our population will be double what it is today. All of the work the City is undertaking at present is not only for our current population, but also in preparation for these thousands of new residents who will proudly call Kwinana home in the coming years.

Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre
Work on the new $22 million Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre is almost complete.
This iconic community facility will change the landscape in the City Centre area and will provide state-of-the-art library facilities, a function hall, a Dome Café and restaurant, a community lounge, free wi-fi, a crèche and offices for not-for-profit groups.
This facility is set to be open to the public in early 2013.
New roads & footpaths
Substantial changes to the road layouts around the City Centre are underway to improve access and traffic flow to the new and existing facilities. New footpaths are also being created so that there is a continuous pedestrian connection across the civic precinct, linking the high school to the retail precinct and further south.
Landscaping and City Square
Landscaping works will continue throughout 2013 in order to beautify the area. This includes the creation of the new City Square that is currently under construction outside of the Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre.
Niche Kwinana
Ninety residential lots have commenced construction on the vacant land between Meares Avenue and the rear of the Recquatic. The homes, a mixture of single storey, double storey and loft homes will be built and sold as finished product.
