Wildflower Walk

The Town of Kwinana and the Murdoch Branch of the Wildflower Society are inviting locals to enjoy a guided tour of the Rotary Wildflower Reserve to view this year’s stunning display of native wildflowers.

Donkey orchidOn Sunday 18 September at 10am, participants are requested to assemble at the eastern end of Sandringham Park on Nottingham Parkway in Orelia. The Wildflower Society will then treat the group to an informative and enjoyable morning spent discovering the unique and impressive variety of flora scattered throughout the reserve.

Scholarship applications open


Applications are now open for educational scholarship for the 2012 school year.

Scholarships are awarded to students entering years 8 ($300), 11 ($375) and 12 ($400), and to those students finishing year 12 and continuing with their education ($800).

Last year the Town of Kwinana generously invested approximately $8,000 in youth scholarships and this year it is set to increase to around $9,000, allowing the Town to assist with the financial requirements of youth education for more local families.

Scholarship submissions close Friday 23 September at 5pm. Application forms are available for download and can also be collected at most schools or by contacting the Town of Kwinana on 9439 0274 or via email.
