After recently relocating to the Town of Kwinana Library, the Kwinana Volunteer Resource Centre is encouraging local residents to get involved in a wide range of activities.
Volunteering options are many and include event operations, gardening, kitchen work, caring for the elderly, drivers, mentors, educators, child care, office administration, emergency services, committee duties, accounting, and legal support.
Roles can often be tailored to align with an individual’s interests and skill set. Many positions are flexible and are shaped around the volunteers’ existing obligations. Time commitments vary greatly with some only able to commit one hour weekly, and others able to contribute numerous days each week. All levels of assistance are appreciated and all age groups are encouraged to get involved.
The 2011 Live! Kwinana series of events also rely heavily on the services offered by volunteers to ensure a smooth operation process on the day. Those who are keen to get involved with community events should enquire as soon as possible.
The Kwinana Volunteer Resource Centre is open on Mondays and Tuesdays between the hours of 9am and 4pm, and is located in the Kwinana Library at the rear of the Hub Shopping Centre. Application forms are available at the Kwinana Volunteer Resource Centre, on the Town of Kwinana website, or by calling 9419 1628. All candidates must be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check where applicable to the required duties.
Village Markets at Wellard
Come down and grab a coffee and a paper and hunt down a bargain with family and friends as the Village Markets at Wellard prepare for a new season.
The Village Markets provide free entertainment and activities including a range of stalls and a delicious selection of foods. The Rotary Club of Kwinana also hosts a Car Boot Sale.
The Village Markets at Wellard are held from 9am to 1pm on the first Sunday of the month (starting again on 2 October) at Pimlico Gardens in Wellard.
