The Live! Kwinana events season is set to kick off on Tuesday 11 October with the increasingly popular Children’s Party for under 5’s.

Local parents and care givers are encouraged to pack a picnic blanket and bring their babies and toddlers down to take advantage of this free community celebration. Now in its 12th year and packed full of age appropriate entertainment, the event is forecasted to attract a crowd of over 3,000.

Children's PartyThe festivities will take place in the shady surrounds of Medina’s Ridley Green between 10am and 2pm and will feature a fun array of children’s games, interactive activities and exciting entertainment. While the little ones party the day away in a safe and stimulating environment, mum and dad will have the chance to mingle with other local parents and chat to children’s service providers about the many useful options available to families residing within the Town of Kwinana.

The Alcoa Children’s Party aims to provide carers with parenting advice and assistance while promoting social, physical and cognitive development for local children. The event will offer generous prizes and giveaways, as well as healthy eating options for the family including free fruit and water. This fantastic annual occasion showcases Kwinana’s family oriented community lifestyle and aspires to draw neighbourhoods of local families together.

The annual Children’s Party is a Town of Kwinana initiative and is proudly sponsored by Alcoa. For further information visit www.livekwinana.com.au, or call 9439 0419.

Town unveils Flare artwork

The Town of Kwinana has revealed its artistic vision for the Kwinana community after the launch of a Public Art Master plan during the unveiling of the new "Flare" structure yesterday evening.

TThe plan outlines a strategy for the development and introduction of public art in Kwinana and identifies a list of locations throughout the Town which could potentially house artwork in the future.

The Town launched the plan during the unveiling of the new 12m high "Flare" artwork, located at the corner of Thomas and Rockingham Road.

Flare ArtworkJointly funded by the Town of Kwinana and the State Government through the Rockingham Kwinana Development Office, "Flare" symbolises the energy of the industrial area and relates to the Kwinana flame at the BP refinery.

Mayor Carol Adams, who accompanied John Day MLA and Phil Edman MLC to launch the plan and unveil "Flare" said council would focus on the artistic, historical and cultural development of the entire Kwinana community.

“It is important that, as Kwinana matures into a modern and contemporary city, we ensure a cultural and artistic identify grows with it.”

“The Town is committed to promoting a friendly and sociable community and public art is an ideal social stimulator. We look forward to working collaboratively with the State and Federal Governments as well as developers to deliver a wealth of artistic flavour to Kwinana.”
